This stretch of the Chickley River, near Scott Road in Hawley, was severely altered by Tropical Storm Irene and further human alterations shortly after. Subsequently, additional in-stream work was done to partially restore some of the previous impacts. The stream is now naturally recovering, aided by plantings of riparian vegetation by the Connecticut River Watershed Council and partners in 2015.
These river photo-documentation tours will show images of rivers and streams taken from the same vantage point over time, in different seasons and at different water levels.
