Route 116 crosses in and out of the Deerfield River watershed several times as one drives west from Conway, past Ashfield, into Plainfield. In Conway, the divide (red lines in image below) is chiefly between the Deerfield and Mill River (through Whately and Hatfield) watersheds. Further west, the divide is between the Deerfield (on the north) and the Westfield (to the south).
The stops on this tour show images of small Deerfield River tributaries between Conway and Plainfield, most of which were taken on Christmas Day, 2014. Moderate to heavy rains the preceding two days produced high flows in these streams.
