Pumpkin Hollow Brook, old Cricket Hill Road

Pumpkin Hollow Brook runs north for about two miles from its headwaters just outside the Conway State Forest to the South River in Conway center. For most of its length the stream runs between Old Cricket Hill and Whately roads. The upper reaches are mostly forested.  The lower portions run through a series of meadows, residential areas and recreational lands, including the Town swimming hole (a man-made reservation) and ball fields.

At this spot, about a quarter mile below the Town swimming hole, the brook has a small, sharply defined channel shape here. Note the classic meander pattern.  The Deerfield watershed divide is a little over one mile south of this spot.  From there, waters drain to the Mill River in Hatfield.
