Daniel Webster Speech Site
Historical curiosity: on July 7, 1840, Daniel Webster gave a speecho on this site, to some 15,000 people at the Whig Party's Vermont state nominating convention. The setting was an open field at elevation 2,400 feet, several miles from the nearest town. Here are some accounts of the event:
