Deerfield Riverwalk

This tour looks at several locations along the Deerfield and Cold Rivers and Black Brook that were the focus of two educational river walks taken in November 2013 and June 2014.  The purpose of the walk was to visit locations that exhibit different processes at work along a flowing river, and discuss some of the roles humans play in those processes. Why does erosion occur at some times and places, accumulation of sediments at others? What happens during floods or droughts? And what does this mean for human uses and management of rivers and riverlands, and their ecological value  – from our homes, roads, farms and fields to recreational fishing and boating, to the plants and animals that depend on rivers?
